Cricket World Cup

The Cricket World Cup is entering the business end with all the big boys, with the exception of India and Pakistan and the suprise qualification to the Super Eights of Bangladesh and Ireland. It has certainly been an eventful start with the suprise eliminations of two cricketing giants, but the tragic murder of Bob Woolmer has stolen all the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Cricket is a passion for me and a way of life but it is surely not worth someones life. A true gentle giant of the game, greatly admired and respected, an innovator, the first of the laptop brigade and someone who truely loved the game and made a contribution to its continued growth and improvement. It is indeed a sad loss for all involved with cricket and although the show must go on, as he would have wished, it will surely be tainted by his loss and the winning and losing will somehow not seem so significant or important.
